How it was built
Somali frankincense gives the opening its cold, almost citric lift. It burns off quickly, and what remains is labdanum — the resin of rock rose, which is sticky, animal and faintly sweet.
The tobacco is a cured leaf absolute rather than a tobacco accord. It adds a dryness that keeps the vanilla in the base from turning the whole thing into dessert.
